Youths Cash In From ‘YouthBank’

 

LICHFIELD’S TEENAGERS are being given an opportunity to apply for up to £5,000 to help them setup or run existing projects in the local area.

The ‘Youthbank’ or ‘Youth Opportunity fund’ initiative, which is being run by Staffordshire Youth Service, has £30,000 available for Young people of Lichfield and surrounding areas.Young people aged 13-19 have the opportunity to put in a bid for up to £5,000 to help with a project that will benefit young people in the Lichfield area.The fund is managed by a group of young people from across Staffordshire, who will meet to consider and discuss the applications and decide on how the fund will be given out.The Deputy Member of the Youth Parliament for Lichfield, Ben Rogers DMYP, who attends The Friary School has said, “This Provides a fantastic opportunity for Young People in the area and I hope to see lots of bids, the money is ready and waiting!”For more information or for an application pack, please call: 01543 510698, E-mail: BenRogersDMYP@hotmail.com or visit the website at http://education.staffordshire.gov.uk/YouthService/YouthOpportunitiesFund/

I’m back off my summer recess!

Well i’m back folks!

I hope you have all had a good summer.

This is where it all begins, i will be updating fairly recently from now on so people can see whats been going on!

UKYP Staffordshire meeting, which i attended last week was very interesting. Staffordshire County Council need to find £40 million to fall in line with new Equal Pay Act Legisation later this year. The County Council will have to cut almost every budget inorder to find the money to pay the staff. There is another part to the story but the information is still restricted at this time but will let you know very shortly what is happening.

UKYP Regional Meeting went very well with a lot of different oppertunities comming up over the next month or so. I provided an update on how the budapest trip went and had some interest about this blog and the whole concept of it.

The other events that are comming up i will let you know every soon.

While i was off i had a meeting with a man from ROL, Central office and ROL are now working together to try and create a new website for UKYP and they are also looking at funding for us. It is a deal of around £30k.

I have Started to blog because…..

I have started blogging because i was sent to budapest by the British Government inorder to learn all about e-Participation, Social Inclusion, Democratic Engagement.

After a talk about the power of blogging and how to do it…..i am now joining the ranks as it were!!!

So why start a blog???

I have started a blog because it is important to update people on how i have been earning my keep! (As it were) 

Also i want to update people on what i have been doing in my role and how i have been working to make changes for young people. I will be listing the people that i have been meeting with and the outcomes of those meetings and other information will be posted to keep you all informed!!!
